Generosity

Microsoft Alumni are generous!

When someone leaves Microsoft, they don't turn in their passion for giving along with their blue badge. That ethos of generosity remains and for some it becomes our post- Microsoft purpose. That is why part of the Alumni Network's mission is to positively impact the lives of others through individual and collective giving.

We empower alumni to do more together. Members are encouraged to actively engage with the Alumni Network to achieve their personal charitable goals. We demonstrate that when we act together - by volunteering, donating cash, offering expertise, or advocating for a cause we can have a greater social impact.

Since issuing our first grants in 2009, together the Microsoft Alumni Network and our Alumni Network members have donated $4.25 million to nonprofit organizations throughout the U.S.

Here are just a few ways members can tap into the Microsoft Alumni Network to increase their social impact.

  • Microsoft Alumni GIVE

Microsoft Alumni GIVE is a weeklong giving campaign in October during which Alumni Network Premium Members in the U.S. can give alongside the Microsoft Alumni Network to selected nonprofit organizations that align with Microsoft's areas of social impact Climate Action, Digital Equity, and Equity for All. Donations made during the Alumni GIVE Campaign will be amplified by the Alumni Network's $50,000 stretch pool.

  • Alumni for Good Challenge

The Microsoft Alumni for Good Challenge is our version of a volunteer matching program. Annually the Alumni Network provides $100,000 in matching funds to support our Premium Members' volunteer efforts. By volunteering time and talent, alumni can earn unrestricted cash for the nonprofit organizations they support.

  • Act with Alumni Profiles

Storytelling is a powerful medium. We share the stories of alumni who are working in the nonprofit sector and volunteering. As they work to change the world, they can tell us about it so that we can amplify their impact and invite their fellow alumni to act with them.

  • Business and Nonprofit Directory & Job Board

Within Microsoft AlumConnect, the Alumni Network's private social network, alumni may add nonprofit organizations they support to the directory. They can post openings for volunteer positions and board positions in the Job Board.

  • Event Calendar

Within Microsoft AlumConnect, the Alumni Network's private social network, alumni may add fundraisers, galas and other events to the Event Calendar. They can use the news feed to share information and actively promote nonprofit activities. Activities listed in the calendar also are promoted via Alumni Network newsletters.
